On July 4, 1883, Walter Davis and Rose Kennedy stepped into the basket of a hot air balloon and, after ascending 50 feet, were married in front of a crowd of some 50,000 at Monumental Park in Cleveland.

February 12, 1935 – February 12, 2015: 80th Anniversary of the Loss of the USS Macon

uss-macon 2 sqEighty years ago, on February 12, 1935 the Navy’s dirigible ZR-5, USS Macon was lost as it crashed into the Pacific Ocean, off Monterey Bay.

Balloon Pilots Make History

An audacious, nearly 7,000-mile-long trip across the Pacific Ocean came to an end Saturday as two accomplished pilots safely touched down in the water just off the coast of Mexico in their helium-filled balloon after shattering two long-standing records.
