February 25 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Join the Western Reserve Historical Society and Goodyear during the unveiling of gondola 4118 from the “Spirit of Goodyear” in the Setting the World in Motion exhibit on Wednesday, February 25 at 1:00 pm

The blimp received the Guinness World Record for the longest, continuously-operated airship ever. It was in operation from 2000-2014. In March 2014, Spirit of Goodyear was retired and disassembled at Goodyear’s blimp base in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Photo-1-300x236Photo-2Photo-3The gondola (4118) saw service on three airships, logging more than 29 years of activity and thousands of hours in flight time. During that time, it flew over some of the world’s most-attended sporting events; The Kentucky Derby, NASCAR races, US Open Tennis matches, Major League Baseball games, NCAA basketball and football, NFL games, and more.

Setting the World in Motion explores the impact of Northeast Ohio on the auto and aviation industries and the gondola will bring to the forefront Goodyear’s deep roots in the area’s entrepreneurial background.
