Blimp Sightings in Northeast Ohio – Update # 2

The Hood blimp has been sighted at the Akron Fulton Airport (KAKR), where it has been yesterday and today (July 27, 2012). We have not been able to determine the reason for the visit. The blimp is an American Blimp Corp. A-60+ and is registered as N620LG. It left Sunday, July 29 in the morning. SteveH. reported having sighted the Hood blimp over Rochester, New York at 4:15 PM, heading east, presumably to the Greater Boston area.

MetLife’s Snoopy One blimp, an American Blimp Corp A60+, registration N560VL is now moored at the Akron Fulton Airport (KAKR). This will be its base through August 5 while it provides television coverage of the World Golf Championship’s Bridgestone Invitational. It will then fly on to its next engagement at Farmingdale, New York.

In the meantime, the “hometown” blimp, Goodyear’s Spirit of Goodyear (model GZ-20)  is in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, attending the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture  Air show. It is scheduled to be there from July 25 to 29.
