For the first time, the Goodyear Blimp is inviting fans to spend a night inside the iconic aircraft.
The Akron-based tire company is listing its blimp on Airbnb for three, one-night-only stays on Oct. 22, 23 and 24, leading up to the Notre Dame vs. Michigan game on Oct. 26.
Two guests can spend one night in the blimp for $150, plus taxes and fees. The booking does not include a ride in the blimp, which will be docked at Wingfoot Lake Airship Hangar in Mogadore – the world’s oldest airship base, according to Goodyear.
The stay will be hosted by Goodyear Chief Pilot Jerry Hissam, who can answer questions about his job and the aircraft. He will show guests around the property, which includes a football-themed lounge and a lakefront spot with a grill, fire pit, cornhole and other “tailgate essentials.”
Guests will also receive tickets to the Oct. 26 game in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The company said it will roll out opportunities to book a stay throughout the day on Oct. 15, so fans should keep an eye on the Airbnb listing.
Later this year, the Goodyear Blimp will become the first non-player or coach to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame for providing aerial game coverage since 1955. The blimp has soared above more than 2,000 entertainment events, and while some guests have boarded for a ride, this is the first time fans can stay overnight inside the gondola.
