The Lighter-Than Air Society will again be participating in the Props and Pistons Festival in Akron this year.
The Festival will be held on August 18 and 19, 2018, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Akron Fulton Airport, recently renamed as the Akron Executive Airport. Continue reading for more details.
The LTAS will have a display of items from its unique collection of historical items relating to lighter-than-air flight. We will also have a selection of L-T-A related items for sale.
Goodyear has announced that its new blimp will make flyovers on both days, demonstrating the maneuverability of the airship (weather permitting).
The Festival will also include aircraft displays, aerial demonstrations, airplane rides in civilian aircraft and warbirds, as well as educational aviation exhibits.
On Saturday, only, there will be a Classic Cars and Historic Military Vehicles exhibition.
Sunday at Noon there will be a Veterans Remembrance Ceremony.
Admission: Adults: $15, Children 6-12yrs.: $5, 5yrs and under: FREE.
Please park at the Rubber Bowl lot at the bottom of the Derby Downs hill. You can see this lot from the intersection of Triplett and George Washington Blvd. Use the address of 890 George Washington Blvd Akron OH to find this lot. The parking is FREE and there will be FREE shuttle service right to the main gate. Handicap parking only is available at the main gate (1600 Triplett Blvd).
